In collaboration with the University of Basel, we use the iPath tele-medicine platform.

About iPath

The association “iPath Basel - association for the advancement of telemedicine” (original name: «iPath Basel - Verein zur Förderung der Telemedizin») has been founded from the telemedicine group at the University which has been dealing with telemedicine for over 10 years. During this time, an open, robust and user friendly telemedicine system has been developed and released as an open source software with the code name “iPath”.

Over the past 3 years, the usage of iPath has steadily increased and is now utilized on all continents - not only in Eastern Europe but also in South East Asia, Africa and the Australo-pacific region. So far, iPath has been funded exclusively through scientific research and a lot voluntary work by many people. For the future, iPath should be independent from single research project and freely available for diagnostic and education collaboration by anyone. To achieve this goal a broader ownership is envisaged and realised in the form of the iPath association - an open association according to Swiss law (Verein).

According to the articles association, the goal of the association is the further development of the iPath software, the operation of the iPath server at the University of Basel and the  fostering of a global exchange of medical knowledge between experts and non-experts by means of a simple and user friendly telemedicine system.
